In “Romeo and Juliet”
by William Shakespeare . People think that Romeo is being rash about his decision
in marrying Juliet. While others think that Romeo is just following his path
into true love. Well I however think that he’s being rash and impulsive, and
not thinking before does something.
In
Act 2 scene 3, line 100, Romeo says “O let us hence. I stand on sudden haste”.
He’s basically trying to say to Friar Lawrence lets go hurry up I want to marry
Juliet already. In my opinion, true love should take some time and it shouldn't
be rushed. I also think that he’s treating Juliet in a bad way for not giving
her time to think about engagement, which can lead into some bad things.
In
Act 2 scene 3, line 56-57, Romeo says “Plainly know my heart dear love is set
on the fair daughter of rich Capulet”. I feel like he’s only “in love’ with
Juliet because she is rich. And he’s basically being a gold digger. This isn’t
only him being rash, but it expands on my claim that this isn’t true love. And the fact that he said “rich” before he’s
said Capulet, it conveys the fact that his eyes are only one the green. So he’s
basically taking advantage of her for her wealthiness even though he is wealthy
himself.
Romeo
is just playing with love. He recently went through a break up with his
ex-girlfriend. And he’s very young, he’s certainly not ready for marriage. And
him marrying Juliet led to both of them in death. And that’s what happens when
it’s not true love, it leads to consequences. And for people in real life who
are young, they can’t really experience true love until they’re mature and developed
into an adult. Clearly Romeo was thinking impulsive deciding to marry Juliet.
